New Euro Motorhome that gets 63 MPG? But....

http://www.zercustoms.com/news/images/Citroen/Romahome-R10-Citroen-Nemo-1.jpg width=512 http://www.zercustoms.com/news/images/Citroen/Romahome-R10-Citroen-Nemo-2.jpg width=512 And there always seems to be a "but" involved! It's a Romahome R10 Solo which will make its' debut at the International Caravan & Motorhome 2008 show in the UK beginning tomorrow. Based on the interesting Citroen Nemo, it's equipped with a 70hp Citroen1.4HDi diesel engine with Sensodrive automatic, and features a mini galley kitchen with seats that fold flat to a 6'4" bed. Raising the roof will add 6'6" in overall height. And yes, it does have a hidden porta-potti, though quite frankly, I'd rather not know where it is! Not sure how they would classify this micro motorhome, possibly a class B, or maybe it simply has no class? :B The highly efficient R10 Solo is said to achieve 63MPG, and will list for about $33,235.(US). A little minimalist for me personally, but would make an interesting day coach toad if it was 4-wheels down towable. You can find an article here. Additional photos here. :)

RE: Coachmen Cruise Master?

It think it's a great value for the money, considering incentives Coachmen currently has in place. I spoke with a Coachmen factory rep. not too long ago, and outside the available 2008-09 model, she indicated that Coachmen does not have plans to continue manufacturing the Cruise Master UFO. Also, you may want to research the issues involving the GM 8.1L engine water pump failures which has cropped up recently, specifically with the UFO chassis. It's an issue which appears to have "irked," rightly so, those owners who have experienced it first hand. Workhorse has appeared to have traced the issue to the Fan Clutch Assembly(FCA). Its been reported that the OEM supplier of the FCA deviated from the design specs. provided by Workhorse, all without informing Workhorse engineers. The result of which can potentially cause damage to multiple components of the powerplant, in some cases severe. Several owners have indicated that these failures have necessitated the replacement of not only the water pumps and FCU, but also damaged radiators, and in a few cases, a replacement of the engine themselves. All were apparently covered under warranty. This problematic FCA has been reported to be limited to '07 manufactured UFO chassis, which could be in an '08 model year coach. It's further been reported that Workhorse is close to releasing specific information on corrective measures to deal with this issue. So far, not clear in what form this will take. In any case, you may want to contact Workhorse to see if it's possible to easily identify a potential problematic FCA equipped coach, should this be a concern to you. It would be to me! :) .

RE: Got to be a scam

It amazes me how many actually believe this type of scam. This is the same scam reported earlier on this forum. A simple search will bring up details: Smells like a scam--what do you think? Update on scam--2004 Alfa See Ya You can find numerous examples of this same type of scam on various "RVs for Sale" sites. Take a look at this thread Motorhomes "For Sale" Scams?.

RE: Mozilla Firefox unavailable

one other fix is to hit ctrl-alt-delete and bring up the task monitor...look for a firefox application running and shut it down...no need to reboot then... I've had to do this on several occasions when Firefox wouldn't shut down, eventhough it no longer appeared in the taskbar. Usually, receive a popup window that indicates Firefox is still running when trying to relaunch the browser.

http://www.batterymart.com/images/products/pda/pda-210li_lg.jpg Consider replacing the battery? One is available here, another here. By the looks of the battery, some soldering may be necessary.

RE: Georgetown SE climbing mountains

Considering you're towing a fairly heavy Jeep Cherokee and at 8,000+ ft. altitudes, I don't think you'll do much better in a class A. I just recently read a thread on irv2.com on this subject, where the OP had a Workhorse GM 8.1L with Ultrapower installed, also towing an SUV, and couldn't do much better than 25MPH. As AnnorTom stated, disconnecting the toad on long steeper grades may be the way to go.

RE: National Tradewind, 1998 specs.

I do have the brochures/spec. sheets library from National RV, but it doesn't appear they maintained a 1998 spec. sheet for the Tradewinds. However, I do have a 1998 Tradewinds brochure, and a 1999 Tradewinds spec. sheet. You can get a copy here: Download National RV 1998 Tradewinds Brochure.pdf Download National RV 1999 Tradewinds Specs.pdf

RE: Roof on Bounder

It's Royal Tuff-Ply, a brand name for TPO(thermoplastic polyolefin) roof made by Alpha Systems. Other brand names for TPO roofs include Brite-Tek. Not particularly difficult to repair, take a look at this YouTube video which describes one process: Repairing A Single-Ply Thermoplastic (Hyolon, TPO, or PVC). :)

RE: Anyone have a GPS Navigation system designed for motorhomes?

http://www.teletype.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/33001LowResSpecial.JPG .............http://www.teletype.com/pages/gps/picturestab/worldnav-truck-settings.jpg width=250 Take a look at the stand-alone WorldNav Truck Routing GPS, designed primarily for commercial drivers. It allows you to input your height, length, and weight, and will route you accordingly. It's been relatively popular, so typically back ordered. :)

RE: RV Manufactures & Dealers

I think the most timely source of info. is still the net. You may want to routinely check RV Industry News. They've been the first to report several key closures and bankruptcies of RV manufacturers and dealers, including Alfa Leisure. I believe they get much of their exclusive info. from tips they receive from industry insiders. :)

RE: New Monaco Motorhomes

In this month's Motorhome magazine, it had an article about fuel efficient RV's. It further stated that Monaco was coming out shortly with a new C+ motorhome and a new Class A motorhome that will be the most fuel efficient Class A. Does anyone have any spies that can give us some info on what these new motorhomes will look like. Haven't read the article, but I'm guessing they are referring to the Monaco Covina/HR Traveler Class C built on the Sprinter Chassis. They're already available. Monaco's answer to Damon's Avanti "fuel-efficient" class A is supposed to be introduced during the first quarter of 2009. Not much info. is available, other than it'll be built on a Roadmaster Chassis. Don't know whether it will be a DP or FRED. :)

RE: Coach Handling Theory

Have you ever had a wheel alignment done? I know this is not your situation but our's is brand new (had it a week) and yesterday I took it in for a wheel alignment (dealer paid for it). It was significantly out of whack. My research tells me that manufacturers never do alignments prior to deliver of new coaches, they simply do their best guess set-up. That's why I had mine done. One does, and they weigh each coach too. Coachmen/SportsCoach also aligns each motorhome after it's manufactured(see article "Coachmen utilizes high-tech alignment process"). I believe most if not all manufacturers four-corner weighs each MH for their own internal records. I would like to see the RVIA upgrade its weight label requirements to include four-corner weights for each coach. Since the RVIA is an industry supported organization, I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

RE: Fix for UFO water pump problem.

If anyone plans to attend the Workhorse Seminar in the next couple of days in Myrtle Beach, I'd be interested in what they have to say about the FCA issue on the UFO. More specifically, how to identify a suspect FCA and if they intend to issue a voluntary recall to correct the issue on effected chassis. I'm sure there are many still interested in the UFO chassis, also in how Workhorse addresses this issue. There are also many manufacturers eager to move out 2008 inventories on dealers lots, so some incredible bargains exist, including UFO coaches.

RE: Password Management Software?

Keepass is what I have been using for the last 2 years. http://keepass.info/ Dave Second for the Freeware Keepass Password Safe! I've used it for many years. You can easily backup and sync encrypted password databases among installations. It will even run directly from a portable USB drive, so you can carry your encrypted passwords on your keychain. :)
